.Here are some tips on how to pick a Sunshine Coast low cost wedding venue to help you plan your upcoming wedding.
There are some very expensive wedding ceremony and reception options on the Sunshine Coast and in the Hinterland, but not everyone wants to spend $40,000 to $80,000 on their wedding. After all, it should be about the two of you celebrating your marriage and doing so in a stress free and affordable way. Whether you are wanting a small intimate wedding, or a bigger ceremony with all of your family and friends, each of these locations will be suitable.
The Beach or a Park
The Sunshine Coast has hundreds of fantastic beach or park locations for you to have your wedding ceremony. Officially, you are required to obtain a low cost permit from the council that allows you to use a particular location. You can find out more about the Sunshine Coast Council requirements and charges here. If you decide to have your ceremony in the Noosa area, the fees are very expensive, nearly 10 times the Sunshine Coast fees. Noosa Shire fees are here. However, if your wedding is tiny and you aren’t setting up any structures, you may decide to just turn up and go for it! It is strange that the Councils charge for a wedding, yet there is no charge for a birthday or other celebration! Hmmmmm!
An important consideration is the weather! What will you do if it rains? So, a location with some form of shelter is a good option. Also have a think about parking, time of year, tourists, toilets, the reception location, mozzies, suitable attire (if sandy), drinks etc. I can help you select the perfect venue based on what your are looking for.
The Little White Wedding Church Maleny
This fabulous and very cute little chapel is located minutes from Maleny. They offer very low cost options that you won’t find anywhere else. You can hire just the chapel, or include the celebrant (maybe me), an award winning photographer, flowers, etc. They can even provide refreshments, grazing tables and cater for small receptions. Perfect! For more information, contact Cath at the chapel here.
Kawana Surf Club
The Kawana Surf Club is very cost effective and only a few steps from a beautiful surf beach.. I have performed a couple of weddings there and the staff have always ensured the day is perfect. You do get beach goers wandering past, but that ads to the whole beach vibe. For more information click here. Ensure
Hire a local hall
The photos above are of the beautiful old hall at Obi Obi.
A great alternative to a commercial wedding venue is to hire one of the many local halls. These community halls are scattered around the local towns.. A complete list can be found here.
When hiring the hall, the wedding is basically DIY. So it can involve a lot more planning. Or, you can hire vendors to supply chairs, music, food and just about everything you can think of. There are many businesses that will do all of the organising for you, so all you do is turn up! One company to help you get things together can be found here.
A huge advantage of hiring the hall and planning it all yourself is that you aren’t constrained by other venues rules. You can create the exact ‘feel’ that you are looking for.
So what happens now?
I will continue to add venues to the list, after I have experienced them myself so that I feel comfortable in recommending them. In the meantime, please contact me and take advantage of my many years of experience in the wedding industry.
